Introduction and Important Disclaimer
This article is relevant only for elections using password authentication, which is no longer the default and must be explicitly enabled by the administrator.
The current standard for secure voting is using Magic Links or Single Sign On (SSO).
However, there are occasions when resetting a voter’s password is necessary. Both voters and administrators can reset passwords in NemoVote.
Fallback: What to do, if a voter has no access
We created an article on what to do NOW, and how to prepare in case a voter has no access.

Password Reset by the Voter
If a voter forgets their password, they cannot log in. NemoVote provides a secure self-service password reset option at the main login screen by clicking "Forgot password?".
After entering their email, the voter receives an email with a new password to regain access.
Password Reset by the Administrator
Manual Reset (Not Recommended)

Administrators can manually change a voter’s password in User Management by clicking "edit user" and entering a new password.
This method is intended for live, in-person voting events where voters can approach the administrator desk and get a temporary password reset.
For security reasons, manual reset is not recommended for online voting.
Automatic Reset (Recommended)

Administrators can resend an invitation mail to a specific voter by clicking the mail icon in the User Management list. This automatically resets the password and sends a secure new password via email.
The voter can then log in with the new password and change it afterwards.
This option is available only for voters with an email address registered in the system.
