Introduction and Overview
What is Dark Mode?
Dark Mode is a handy feature in NemoVote that displays a dark background with light text. This helps reduce eye strain during extended screen time. In this article, we’ll show you how to activate Dark Mode in your settings.
How to Activate Dark Mode
Dark Mode is available for voters and can be easily turned on in your profile settings:
- Open the sidebar by clicking the three horizontal lines in the top left corner. This opens the "burger menu."
- Find the “Dark Mode” toggle and activate it. It is indicated by a sun icon for light mode and a crescent moon for dark mode.
Accessible Voting and WCAG Standards
Dark Mode also supports accessibility and complies with modern standards such as WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
- Improved readability: The high contrast between light text and dark background improves readability for people with visual impairments.
- Reduced glare: Dark surfaces minimize screen glare, which is especially helpful for users sensitive to light.
- Customizable user experience: Dark Mode helps make the voting experience more accessible for everyone, aligning with the WCAG principle of Perceivable.
NemoVote continuously works to ensure the accessibility of its systems, including full support for keyboard navigation and compatibility with screen readers.
