Preparing for Secure Online Elections

Step 1: Access Your Online Voting Platform in NemoVote

Platform Access: About three days before your election, NemoVote will send you an email with your customized platform URL and a link to set your password. Click the link to create a password and log into your voting platform.

Tip: Your platform URL will be formatted as “eventname.nemovote.com,” based on the event name provided in your order.

Step 2: Add Voters for GDPR-Compliant Online Voting

In the User Management section, you can add, modify, or delete voters. We recommend uploading a voter list for quick setup. Voters can also be added individually. Once added, invite all voters at once or individually in a GDPR-compliant way via email. Voters are the only ones who know their passwords, ensuring data privacy in voting.

Step 3: Set Up Your First Online Election

To begin your election process, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Votes section.
  2. Select Create Vote and name your election, e.g., “Annual General Meeting 2024.” You can also add a description.
  3. Set choices, vote settings and voting rights to configure voting parameters.
  4. Choose to prepare the election Create or launch it immediately Create & Open.

Configure Voting Options for Enhanced Privacy (Anonymous) in Online Voting

Define voting parameters, such as the number of selections allowed and the type of voting. Enable secret ballot for a anonymization ballot option, which separates voters from ballots, ensuring maximum privacy.

For simple Yes/No voting, select Make it a motion. In such cases, use Voting Rights and select All Voters if applicable.

Step 4: Test the Online Voting Process and Voter Authentication

You can create unlimited test elections in NemoVote. Send initial voter credentials to test voter authentication and confirm settings. Testing lets you identify and address any potential issues before the official election.
